The category of determinative includes numerals, demonstratives, and various types of quantifiers. Numerals, demonstratives (like དེ་, དེ་གཉིས་, and དེ་ཚོ་), and quantifiers always follow the head noun. There is some flexibility in the position of the demonstrative determinatives since they may occur before or after the numeral. One normally finds one of the following orders:

  • Noun + Numeral + Quantifier + Demonstrative
  • Noun + Numeral + Demonstrative + Quantifier
  • Noun + Demonstrative + Numeral + Quantifier
  • Determinatives (English, Latin script, Original)
